It flows from the spring where Rea washed her hair, right after Zeus was born. It was named after the nymph Neda, who, together with other nymphs, was responsible for the upbringing of the young God, away from his father’s Cronus mood for infanticide. |

* Neda of Messenia is a village of Trifyllia of the Messinia prefecture, home of the homonymous municipal administrative department and belongs to the municipality Eiras. Neda is built on the southwest edge of Lycean Mountain. Located near Andritsena of Ileia and the ancient Temple of Apollo Epicourios. Previously the village was called Berekla, indicating the origin of the Slavic people. |

The source of the river Nedas is near the village of Petra and the mouth of the bay is in Kyparissiakos. The waters of Nedas flow a 32 km route. |
